Gate Operator & Motor Repair

Diagnose motor, gearbox, board and safety-input faults without replacing parts by guesswork.

Diagnose motor, gearbox, board and safety-input faults without replacing parts by guesswork.

A gate operator depends on free mechanical movement, stable power and valid safety inputs. A motor that hums, a board showing a fault or a gate that reverses may have different causes even when the visible result is the same.

We inspect the operator model and symptoms, separate the drive from gate resistance where safe, and test the relevant electrical and mechanical systems before recommending repair or replacement.

Operator faults that need a diagnosis

  • The motor hums without gate movement
  • Oil leakage or gearbox grinding
  • Repeated board errors or lost limits
  • A gate refuses to close despite a clear opening

Isolate the fault before ordering parts

We inspect manual gate resistance first. Then we test supply voltage, connections, limits, batteries where fitted and the controller's safety inputs using the equipment's diagnostic procedure.

Drive components and gearbox condition are reviewed separately from the board. If a replacement is more practical, we explain parts availability, compatibility and the changes required to safety devices or wiring.

Repair or replace

Targeted component repair
Appropriate when the fault is isolated and the rest of the operator remains serviceable.
Operator replacement
Considered for extensive wear, unsuitable duty rating or obsolete supported parts.
Safety-input repair
Correct failed detection or wiring rather than bypassing a protective input.

What affects the scope and the price

  • Model and supported parts availability
  • Fault extent and water damage
  • Mechanical resistance outside the operator
  • Existing wiring and safety compatibility

What's included

  • Power and control diagnostics
  • Motor and gearbox assessment
  • Limits and drive components
  • Photo-eye and loop input testing

Leave live electrical work to a technician

Do not open energized controls or bridge sensor terminals. Keep users clear of the moving area and provide the operator model when calling; a remote reset is not proof that the underlying fault is resolved.
